The reference configuration is seven oak treads on a one metre rail, supplied as a spliced ladder. Tread count changes with the height you specify. Solid oak treads give a warmer surface than metal underfoot and match timber shelving without needing a separate finish. The stiles take the structural load, so the timber is doing the job it is good at rather than carrying the whole frame.
